Yoncé

How much more perfect can one couple be? Beyoncé managed to steal the Grammy awards show without a single nomination. And Jay Z is loving every minute of it. (Watch video here soz, my laptop doesn't like me anymore so I can't embed videos).
Lena Dunham, the wonder that blessed us with 'Girls', summed it up perfectly with this tweet: "HOLY SHIT BEYONCE you aren't even a woman anymore you are the world and the lord".

I've seen some comments labelling Beyoncé's sultry performance as 'too vulgar' and likening it to other provocative award show performances recently; some may even question how she can get away with doing this whereas Miley Cyrus is ridiculed. Well, there is a difference between performing and flaunting yourself (and your wares) all over the stage. Beyoncé uses lighting, movement and her incredible voice to display the mood of the song all with just a helping hand, and a squeeze of her famous derrière, from her husband Jay to the Z. However, if we consider Miley's infamous lurid act at the VMAs then it doesn't appear half as clean cut or sensuous. It just doesn't evoke any mood other than shock whereas Beyoncé captures the attention of everyone with the simple act of draping her legs over a chair. And it's fabulous.

And also, might I add, that only her legs are 'on display' with the rest of her body veiled in fabric and let's be honest if we had the legs of Beyoncé then every single one of us would be showing them off at every chance we got.

Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film

Ah, this is grand. Jay Z's video for Picasso Baby, the second track from MCHG, shows the biggest rapper alive performing to a room full of artists from all corners; musicians, actors, dancers, artists, performers. "What do you do with that energy? You know, so today it's kind of an exchange. You have somebody to drop it back off." It evokes such a sense of unity between these people that, although completely different in many aspects, all live to create art. "We are artists. We are alike. We are cousins. That's what is exciting for me, bringing the worlds back together." It's so interesting watching the various reactions people have. I love it so much.

P.s. Did you spot Adam Driver, the guy who plays my favourite character in Girls?
P.p.s When is Girls returning? I'm having withdrawals.

Jay Z and Kanye West @ Radio 1's Hackney Weekend

This was a bit delayed but because of my contemplative state I was hesitant whether or not to post this. So, now I've made up my mind, enjoy this monumental moment.

Judging by the last performance of day one at Radio 1's Big Weekend, it may as well have been called the Jay Z and Kanye West show. Bringing out the old classics such as 99 Problems and On To The Next One, as well as inviting guests Rihanna and M.I.A to join him on stage for his two hour set, Jay Z certainly did not disappoint.
However, the performance reached its climax when Kanye West appeared to perform a multitude of songs from their album Watch The Throne. Delighting fans with Otis, Who Gon' Stop Me and No Chruch In The Wild, an electric atmosphere was created as the set approached the grand finale. Kanye teased the audience with "but there's still one city we ain't taken y'all to yet" and everyone knew what was coming as "ball so hard motherfuckers wanna fine me" resonated around the immense crowd gathered to see hip-hop's finest duo perform Niggas In Paris. With glimpses of Beyonce moshing in the pit, everyone followed suit and absorbed the heavy beats that are impossible to resist moving to. It was bloody brilliant. The three encores. "AGAIN?" Three.

IT SOUNDS SO BEAUTIFUL DON'T YOU AGREE?
